It’s been a busy few months. My lifestyle has changed, my country has changed, my priorities and goals have changed. Safe to say my life has changed quite a bit.
So let’s start from the beginning; I moved to the city in South Sinai in Egypt where I grew up. FINALLY! This is something I have wanted to do for such a long time after I moved back to England in 2009. Having finished college and my A-Level exams I decided to take a gap year and depart on my solo adventure. It is a totally new experience to live alone at 18 but in a different country…. even more so. Although I know this place, only 7000 live here and everyone knows each other (seriously!) it’s still been difficult to adapt without my family and my usual comforts.
It sounds really cheesy but I love to remember the quote “Life begins outside your comfort zone” because with this new adventure I have felt very out of my comfort zone. Remembering that everything is always going to be okay and knowing I’m growing so much, I can really say I am SO FKNG HAPPY now that I AM adapting and growing.
For the first time in a very long time, I’m in love with the place I’m living. In love with the lifestyle, the people, the sea, the diving. I know that moving away from the place I was in with people I didn’t really connect with in many ways was the best thing for me. Right now I am working at a dive center with incredible and fun people, enjoying being young and free whilst working towards my PADI Dive Master. For me, that’s following in my mum’s footsteps and making her proud – literally the best thing I want to do.
So that’s pretty much what’s been going on for the last few months. With the lack of routine and schedule and new adventures, I haven’t focused on the online world much. I haven’t wanted to create content for the sake of it, I want to post things that really help people and that I am really passionate about; so when my inspiration comes, be sure to keep a look out on here and Instagram.
Thank you so much for supporting CECFIT – Cecily. x
