With July here, a lot of us are looking to look and feel amazing in our body and whilst the basics such as working out and eating well are fairly obvious, there are a few small changes you can also make. These are things I am currently aiming to do to get back on track and get my body back to it’s best.
Drink 2 or more liters of water a day, you need to do this! Water is extremely important for normal functioning of the body, as well as keeping your skin healthy and clear. We often don’t actually drink as much water as we think so make sure you know how many liters your water bottle is and know how many you should be drinking to stay accountable.
Working out hard enough to the point you are really sweating and your muscles are exhausted. You only get as much back as the amount you put in – so if your training is sporadic and mediocre, so will your results be!
Increase your NEAT (Non-exercise Activity Thermogenesis). Sounds like a mouthful but it’s very simple. This is the amount of energy you are burning from your daily activities, such as walking and hoovering the house. What we’re saying even if you get up at 6am and go to the gym, but spend the day lazing around on the sofa you may not be getting the best results you can. Aim to do 10,000 steps a day (you can track this on your phone) and be active with your lifestyle AS WELL AS with your workouts.
DO NOT OVERTRAIN! Working out to your happy medium is essential to burn fat and get leaner whilst not stressing your body out. Overtraining symptoms include heavy fatigue, lack of motivation to train, frequent headaches and delayed recovery time. If any of these sound familiar maybe try taking it back a notch and see how you feel. Remember this happy medium is different for everyone – just because one person trains 6 times a week doesn’t mean you need to or necessarily should!
I hope these small changes will help you! Drop a comment below with something you may be struggling with in your health and fitness – maybe we can help each other! – Cecily x
